The Overton Gear name has its history in the locomotive marketplace. Overton Chicago Gear has been manufacturing locomotive parts for OEMs for more than sixty years, specializing in engine and traction gearing and gearboxes. Engine and traction gearing include traction pinions, carriers shafts, turbo idlers for OEM and their remanufacturing facilities. We design and build gearboxes or rebuild existing gearboxes to outperform the original units.

Our Addison facility started its existence as Overton Gear and Tool and its first manufacturing order was for rail gearing. Our long history of service to this first rail customer is a testament to our customer service and commitment to long-term partnership with customers.
